Kanye West’s Mother dies at 58

Earlier today reports were coming in that Donda West, the mother of hip-hop star and Chicago native Kanye West, died early Sunday in Los Angeles.

She was only 58 years old .The former English professor at Chicago State University also was her son’s manager and the chairwoman of the Kanye West Foundation. Earlier this year, she released a book, "Raising Kanye," that chronicled her son’s childhood.

A West spokesperson confirmed the death, saying "the family respectfully asks for privacy during this time of grief."
